James Durant

Owner/Alberta Land Surveyor

James Durant
James graduated in 2001 from the University of Calgary with a B.Sc. in Earth Science. James received his commission number 920 as an Alberta Land Surveyor (ALS) in August 2013 and is currently the principal ALS, project manager and president at Element Land Surveys Inc. James’ experience is broad, ranging from extensive field experience with both GPS and conventional surveys in areas of municipal legal survey, construction, high rise, topographic, and oil and gas. James also has several years of office experience as a CST and PM. Some of his major projects include: “The Bow”, Keynote Building, Fish Creek Park Storm Pond Upgrade, Calgary Science Centre, Saddle Ridge Tri Services and Cochrane Medical Centre. James is married to Jodi and has 3 children: Emma, Sara and Jacob, each of which he adores. In his spare time (if he has any), he enjoys camping, travelling, snowboarding and running.

Duong Le

Alberta Land Surveyor/Project Manager

Duong Le
Duong graduated from the University of Calgary in 2011 with a degree in Geomatics Engineering. He received his commission as an Alberta Land Surveyor in June of 2018. He has experience in surveying power lines, municipal legal surveys and construction surveys through the use of GNSS and conventional survey equipment. In his spare time he enjoys camping and hiking with his wife and dog. When the opportunity arises Duong and his wife like to travel to places they've never been.

Alex Rondeel
Alex graduated from the University of Calgary in April 2013 with a degree in Civil Engineering. He began surveying in 2005 in Lacombe and moved to Calgary to further his education. He joined the Element team in June of 2013 as a survey assistant and has now grown into the role of geomatics technician. His most memorable projects were the Alberta Downs Racetrack and the Raymond Shores RV park. He spends his spare time riding his bicycle, playing video games and camping.

Darcy Pittman
Darcy graduated from Southern Institute Of Technology (SAIT) in 1974 with a diploma in Surveying Technology / Photogrammetry. He has 40 years of experience in the surveying industry. Darcy's range of work includes residential and commercial construction, subdivision, condominium, strata plans, lease area certificates, site surveys, and development permit surveys. Darcy specializes in Condominium Surveys, Bare Land, Building, Re-division, Amalgamation, and Termination of. Much of his experience was earned by drafting, supervising, and - for the past 20 years - managing projects. Darcy is an associate member of the Alberta Land Surveyors' Association. Darcy is also a Commissioner of Oaths (Alberta), since 1978. Darcy has been a member of the SAIT Geomatics Engineering Technology Advisory Committee, since 2011. He is married to Roberta and has 2 grown children, Cody and Megan. Darcy's interests include motorcycles (both vintage and modern), camping and scuba diving.

Gord Glenn

Geomatics Technologist

Gord Glenn
With an 18 year background in legal and construction surveying, Gord has extensive experience with field work operations, office calculations and drafting. He graduated from the University of Calgary in 1997 with a B.Sc. in Geography and went on to receive a diploma in Survey Technology with honors from SAIT in 2000. His most recent achievements are surveying and calculations for the 45 acre Quarry Commercial Retail development in Cochrane, and the Cross Iron Mills shopping centre north of Calgary. He routinely surveys and drafts Sign permit applications, and does his own calculations and layout for smaller construction projects. In his spare time Gord enjoys playing golf, bike riding, and hiking in the mountains.

Jason Wang

Geomatics Technologist

Jason came to Calgary in 2005 from Shanghai, China. In 1991, Jason graduated from the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology as an IT engineer. Jason joined the company in the summer of 2007 in the Drafting and IT Department. His role at Element Land Surveys Inc. is to calculate and draft plans, as well as troubleshoot the office computer system. As a computer software super user, Jason also maintains the company network. His greatest accomplishment is using his software knowledge to build his new survey draftsman career. When not working, Jason enjoys swimming, hiking and spending time with his wife and two sons.
